Twelve family homes with steep white gables, turned so each garden gets the afternoon sun.

Twelve narrow houses on an old canal plot, each one window wide at the street and three windows deep at the back.

Dutch gables are steep for a reason: they let the low northern sun over the roof and into the gardens behind. We kept the old pitch and turned it into a light well that drops daylight into the middle of each plan.

White brick, black frames and one shutter colour for the whole row, chosen by the residents.
