Studio

A small studio that follows the sun.

Twelve architects in two rooms, one in London and one in Lisbon. We draw houses, homes and public rooms, and we start every one of them with a day on site watching the light.

How we think

Three rules of light.

  1. 01

    Sun first

Before the plan, the light. We decide where the morning and the evening fall, then draw rooms around them.

  2. 02

    Shade is design

In warm places the most important thing a house does is keep the sun out. Overhangs and reveals are drawn, never added.

  3. 03

    One material, honestly

We choose one main material per building and let it age in the light.

Who draws

Two founders, twelve desks.

Marisol Aranda sketching at a white desk

Marisol Aranda

Founding partner

Marisol trained in Lisbon and Porto and worked ten years on public housing before founding the studio. She draws by hand first, and almost always at a window.

Teo Lindqvist

Founding partner

Teo grew up in Gothenburg, where in December the sun is a rumour. He looks after the models, the sun studies and every project on site.
